While coaching, consulting and networking in circles of many ambitious Type A women that have all learned to successfully navigate their professional life. One of the main things many successful women have in addition to their businesses and professions are children. It’s one of those things that you know is there but sometimes can be overlooked because we are so laser focused on building our careers. There is no handbook to becoming a mother and then how to launch and scale a 6-figure business it is literally all trial and error, successes and failures.
Managing yourself, a job and a household can be quite overwhelming and can cause severe stress and burn out but we can’t forget to water every seed that we plant.
Which leads to a question that we tend to fail to ask and that is, are you raising the next generation of Leaders and CEO’s? Are you bringing up successful children? It is our duty to protect them, to give them the best life possible and to do whatever it takes to help them succeed. We all want children who are happy, empowered and passionate.
What we most need to know is how to give our kids the values and skills to succeed as adults. Every child has a gift, it’s our responsibility as parents to nurture that gift, whatever it may be.
In order for any of us to be successful, we are needed to be taught to focus on being resourceful, encouraged to take initiative, be self confident, have integrity, and to always be resilient. These are traits that if you were not taught these as children, you need to understand them now and begin training your children to live by them.
When in the presence of your children each day make sure to show them compassion, gratitude, and teamwork. Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. When we speak to our children teach them how to reach their potential and that being themselves is key.
Ladies, it is our responsibility to pour into our children. Don’t get so caught up in your career and personal life that you forget the duties of home. Yes, building your business and making money is super important but please allocate at least 4 hours per day preferably in the evening to focus on loving and nurturing your family.
